Nick Hawkins is a photojournalist and wildlife cameraman specializing in natural history, science and conservation related issues. A biologist by training, Nick believes that photography and story telling are key components of conservation.
As an assignment photographer working throughout the world, Nick has produced stories for National Geographic, Canadian Geographic, BBC Wildlife Magazine and Canadian Wildlife Magazine. Nick is the underwater cameraman for the National Film Board of Canada’s “Ocean School” project; a groundbreaking educational experience that uses powerful storytelling techniques, immersive technologies and interactive media to teach youth about the ocean. He has also worked as a camera operator for CBC’s “The Nature of Things” as well as on National Geographic TV series.
Nick is a member of the International League of Conservation Photographers, an elite group of the world’s top wildlife, nature and culture photographers who have each demonstrated a deep commitment to conservation efforts around the globe. Nick’s work has received numerous awards, including in the Atlantic Journalism Awards as well as the Wildlife Photographer of the Year. His imagery is represented by Nature Picture Library, a specialist photo agency representing more than 500 of the world’s best nature and wildlife photographers.
