On the waterfront in the Town of Nackawic, see the World’s Largest Axe, symbolizing the importance of the forestry industry, built in 1991 when Nackawic was named Forestry Capital of Canada.
Enjoy a walk along our beautiful waterfront with picnic and rest areas near the docks and public beach. Visit the International Garden with over fifty types of trees from around the world and patterned after the course of the St. John River Valley. Then take a stroll through our Nature Trail, a 2.3 km woodland path that follows the river bank with picnic shelters, lookouts, rustic bridges and see nature at its best.
Shop at the Mall (across from the docks and waterfront) with crafts by local artisans, eateries, a pharmacy and a grocery store. Also located at the mall are banks and medical offices. Nackawic is the commercial centre of Mactaquac Country and a great place to enjoy nature’s beauty. Phone 575-2241 or check the website www.nackawic.com for a calendar of current activities.
